More than $2 Million in Community Support
Supporting and protecting our neighbors is part of our Lubrizol corporate philosophy. In this COVID-19 environment, we’ve been actively supporting our communities as part of our mission to improve lives. We expect to contribute more than $2 million to support needs during this crisis. These represent a few of our many efforts globally.
Equipping Hospitals in Europe
Teams in France donated coveralls, shoe covers, protective glasses and masks to the Rouen University Hospital, the Centre Hospital of Rouvray, the CHI of Elbeuf and the Henri Becquerel Centre, among other organizations. With frequent hand washing, moisturizing is also needed to protect our hands in this environment. Our teams in Spain donated hand cream to local hospitals to help with this need, while our Hamilton, Montana site donated disposable medical masks to Marcus Daly Hospital in Hamilton.
Smiles from Lubrizol Children
The children of Lubrizol employees in Spain wanted to brighten the day of patients who are in isolation while fighting COVID-19, so they created beautiful cards that were donated to a local hospital.
Face Shield Donation for Medical Workers
Lubrizol together with NIKE, Inc is helping protect frontline medical workers fighting against COVID-19. To support Nike’s efforts to develop and donate full-face shields and powered, air-purifying respirator (PAPR) lenses to hospitals across several U.S. cities, Lubrizol donated ESTANE® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) polymers, an important element in both pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE).
With Lubrizol’s support, Nike has shipped full-face shields and PAPR lenses to health systems in Oregon, where Nike is headquartered, and several other U.S. cities, including Cleveland, where Lubrizol’s world headquarters sit.
Hand Sanitizer for Ohio Hospitals
GOJO and Lubrizol joined together to donate more than 16,000 liters – or the equivalent of nearly 65,000 8 oz. bottles of PURELL® Hand Sanitizer - to local hospitals. GOJO and Lubrizol worked with the CEOs of each hospital system in Cuyahoga, Summit and Wayne Counties to provide a 1-liter bottle of hand sanitizer to every patient room, for the months of April and May.
Grub for Scrubs
Across the communities where we operate, Lubrizol is proud to support local restaurants and local medical providers. We’re purchasing meals from local restaurants and providing food to those working in our local hospitals as they provide critical care to our neighbors.
2,020 Virtual and At-Home Volunteer Hours
Lubrizol has a goal for 2,020 at-home and virtual volunteer hours this year, starting in this environment. The company is encouraging all employees to donate time to identified causes or their favorite organizations from home as the world battles COVID-19.
Donating Medical Supplies in China
Lubrizol employees in China mobilized quickly to try slow the spread of the virus in February, purchasing and donating more than $325,000 worth of critical supplies, including 19,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and sanitizing spray, 5,000 protective medical gowns and 48,000 IV infusion sets for local hospitals and charitable organizations.
Vocational Guidance Services
The Lubrizol Foundation made a $25,000 donation to Vocational Guidance Services (VGS) in Cleveland, a vocational rehabilitation agency with a mission to prepare people with barriers to employment for a brighter future. Lubrizol’s donation will support VGS as they pivot their activities in this environment to creating gowns and masks for local hospitals, and also support some of the agency’s loss of income during this time.
Supporting Local Food Banks
Lubrizol is making monetary or food donations to food banks in all areas where it has significant manufacturing operations, ensuring those who need it have access to food. This includes a $30,000 contribution to The Greater Cleveland Food bank, and a $10,000 donation to Cleveland’s MetroHealth Foundation’s Helping Hand Fund to support immediate emergency requests for food, over-the-counter medication, household cleaning supplies and needed hygiene products.
Contributing to the Red Cross
For employees in the U.S., we’ve established a matching gift program for all contributions to the Red Cross, as an extension of our regular matching gifts efforts. The Lubrizol Foundation will match employee contributions, dollar for dollar, up to $1,000. Employees in Singapore also donated more than $7,000 to the Singapore Red Cross to Support COVID-19 needs.
